I am humbled and truly appreciate
the support you all have shown me
in this new endeavor.
It truly fills me with life, and
the desire to create more.
I thought my mid-life crisis was going to be birding. Turns out that's what everyone in their thirties was doing because it's free. I'm too poor for a Porsche,
so I guess this is at least thrifty.
So far, in less than three months I have started to learn architectural design, woodworking at scale, painting (both aerosols and brushes), how to put together models (but made from scratch), and how to make furniture out of clay. It's a lot, but it keeps my mind engaged and off the internet!
I never thought I would like painting this much. I don't know how to mix my own colors yet, and my lines aren't straight (but who really is?), and I am not adding the depth I know is achievable (yet!). But I enjoy sitting and just getting lost in color and motion. It's like a little dance trying to find how to paint the intricate models. The best part? I am just getting started, I'm going to get so much better at it!
"Matias is a skilled miniature
creator. His attention to detail
is impressive, with everything
looking perfectly real just in its
shrunken down version.
The patience, skill,
and passion is evident in
everything he makes."

"Do you ever catch yourself thinking
'I want to be titillated, but I’m trying
to reduce my screen time and
reading is just too much work?'
You are not alone. Join the
thousands of other slightly horny
Americans who have discovered
Matias’s Minis!"

I think this is not a half-bad attempt,
you know, it being my first time and
learning everything as I go.
This is a work in progress, like everything in life is, so I will, when I can, update this.
I'm thinking of this whole website as a digital repository of my process.
